Oriental rugs are typically made of natural wool fibers which are cooked in natural vegetable dyes that are made from various plants, leaves, berries, barks, seeds, and roots. These natural wool fibers are sheared from sheep, washed, and colored in a rainbow of natural colors. As these wool fibers are used to tie millions of knots to create a unique majestic design, the fibers have natural oils that keep the rug lubricated and breathing.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD RUGS BE CLEANED?
This will depend on a few factors. The general rule of thumb is once every two to three years. However, if the rug is placed in a high traffic area that experiences a lot of dust and pollution, more frequent cleaning may be necessary. The best method in keeping a rug healthy is to wash it by hand with natural organic shampoos and enzymes. If the rug is soiled by animals, more frequent yearly cleaning is called for to improve air quality and remove unpleasant odors. If a rug is not in a high traffic area and not directly under pollution and depending on the rug quality, it can be washed every one to three years.
